The Originals Get Their Second Wind
Loudoun's first ranches and splits are sixty years in and busy upgrading — new roofs, new windows, and finally, treatments chosen instead of inherited. The wide, friendly openings of the ’60s take cordless faux wood beautifully at whole-house prices, with insulating honeycombs where the sun works the front of the house.

The ’90s Side Polishes Up

We just replaced the original windows with vinyl — will treatments still fit?
Better than before, with one honest caveat: replacement vinyl frames often run shallower than the old wood, so not every product inside-mounts cleanly. We measure the actual depth and tell you straight — shallow-profile shades and blinds exist for exactly this, and outside mounts solve the rest while making windows look larger. New windows plus right-mounted treatments is the full refresh.
Full house, three generations, everything gets touched — what survives?
The durability all-stars: cordless faux wood that shrugs off kitchens, kids, and cleaning day; cellular shades with no cords to tangle and no slats to bend; and materials that wipe clean instead of demanding care. Nothing that survives the first quote: the association wants a tidy, uniform face to the street, and a neutral backing delivers it on virtually any product while the room side stays your call. We write the compliance into the spec before you ever think about it.

It's a system, not a shade: blackout fabric alone loses to the gaps, so we size past the frame, mount outside the opening, and handle the edges where daylight cheats in. Done right, noon looks like midnight — and along this stretch of Loudoun, we've built that room many times over.
