The Oldest Windows on Our Route
Leesburg's courthouse blocks have been standing since 1758, and the brick around King Street holds the deepest reveals and truest small-pane sashes we measure anywhere — openings that make inside-mounted treatments look built-in, provided someone measures like the 18th century is watching. The town's Board of Architectural Review keeps its opinions to the exteriors; inside, the choice is entirely yours. One Greenway exit east, Lansdowne and River Creek flip the brief to walls of fairway-and-river glass. We carry both playbooks in the same van.
King Street & Beyond, Answered
Our downtown brick has two-foot-deep window reveals — what works best?
Those reveals are the prize: inside-mounted Romans, wood blinds, and shutters sit inside them like cabinetry, framed by the brick itself. The catch is measurement — 260-year-old openings are square nowhere — so every one gets templated individually. That's the job, and we love this version of it.
Our back windows face the fairway — when do we actually need privacy?
On a tee-time schedule, genuinely: the course is empty at dawn and busy by nine, so top-down/bottom-up shades and duals let the sky and green stay in view while the foursome doesn't. Motorized versions can run the timing for you — open with sunrise, discreet by the first group through.
Is there a travel charge out to Leesburg?
None — consultation, measuring, and installation are free of travel fees here the same as everywhere we serve, and the Greenway tolls are our line item, not yours. Loudoun is a standing part of the route, not a special trip.
Our Potomac Station colonial still has the builder's vinyl blinds — upgrade path?
The classic Leesburg order: the builder's vinyl comes down, and a real whole-house set goes up — faux wood where durability rules, honeycombs where the west sun works hardest, one palette so the house finally reads finished. Neighboring Ashburn runs the same play; we do it weekly on both sides of the line.
Can the porch survive a wine-country afternoon?
With help, yes: exterior shades built for weather take the western glare off the porch while the view toward the Blue Ridge stays the whole point. Inside, solar screens do the same for the sunroom.
Historic house, modern bedroom expectations — can we get real darkness?
Old houses and true dark get along fine: blackout systems mounted to respect the trim, sized past the frame so the streetlamps on King Street stay outside. Character by day, cave by night — both are on the menu.
